My Airbnb In Palavas

I've never used Airbnb before but if they are all like the apartment that I stayed in on my trip to Palavas, I will use it a lot more often.

My host Francoise is a lovely man, he messaged me a few times before our arrival date to double check when we were going to be arriving. Our flights had been changed to an afternoon flight so his son would meet us at the apartment. The apartment was on the first floor so only one set of stairs to get to it and there is no lift.

The living room/kitchen was a good size with a small kitchen, dining table, sofa, chair and a cabinet under the TV.

It's a very airy and cool room with doors that lead out to the balcony. It was so always nice and cool in that room even without the AC on, it would be boiling hot outside but really pleasant inside.

Behind the sofa is what I thought was storage but turned out to be a fold out double bed. That's what me and my husband slept on and it was really really comfortable. It's easy enough to pull down and put back but we found it easier just to leave it down while we were there.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you would need. A fridge, 2 ring hob, coffee machine, lots of plates, bowls, pots, pans and cutlery. The 2 ring hob has safety features, you need to put a pot or pan on the ring for it to come on, never seen that before. There was some food in the cupboard like different types of pasta and sauces. Salt, pepper, cooking oil and a few odd jars of things that I assume was from the people who have previously rented the flat.

The bathroom looked like something out of a 5 star hotel, very stylish, lots of room to move around, lovely big shower with a small hand held shower and then a rainfall shower head, a toilet with a lot of room around it, nice big basin and lots of bottles of different shampoos, shower gels, etc.

The drawers under the sink had a few bits in them like a hairdryer but they are great for storage if you are going to be there a while and have things you want kept in the bathroom.

The bedroom was a good size with a bunk bed in it but both beds were a double, never seen that before. My mum stayed in this room. It had a huge wardrobe with loads of storage space, we got all our clothes and bags in there and still had loads of room. There was also doors that opened onto the balcony.

The nearest little restaurant and bar is less than 30 seconds away called L'Amphore. It's mainly open in the evening I think but the outdoor seating is right next to the canal which is lovely on warm evenings. It's also where I finally got the nerve to try oysters for the first time and absolutely loved them.

The nearest shop for groceries in Mimi's Market, it is a few minutes around the corner and has everything you will need. There is also a nice little cafe that does lovely food at reasonable prices called Le Tostaqui that I would highly recommend.

The apartment is only a 2 minute walk to the seafront and the restaurants and shops around the canal.

I have tried to book this apartment again for next year but it is already booked up for the dates I wanted, shows just how great it is.
